vMix closes with error message when opening recording settings after Windows 10 update KB4013429

vMix may close with an error message when opening the recording settings after a recent Windows 10 update (KB4013429)
 
This error occurs on systems where the Windows DVD Player is installed, or on systems upgraded from Windows 7 and 8 that included Media Center.
 

Solution
