MP4 recording suddenly stopped Windows 7
If you are using Windows 7 and recording in MP4 file format, when your recording reaches 3.7GB in size it may suddenly stop with the following error:
"MP4 Recording has a maximum file of 3.7GB under Windows 7"
This is due to Windows 7 having a limitation on the file size of MP4 recordings. Windows limits this to a maximum file size of 3.7GB. Due to this, any MP4 recordings you do in vMix will stop when it reaches this file size. This is unfortunately a limitation of the Windows 7 OS.
Therefore we recommend the following:
"MP4 Recording has a maximum file of 3.7GB under Windows 7"
This is due to Windows 7 having a limitation on the file size of MP4 recordings. Windows limits this to a maximum file size of 3.7GB. Due to this, any MP4 recordings you do in vMix will stop when it reaches this file size. This is unfortunately a limitation of the Windows 7 OS.
Therefore we recommend the following:
- If you wish to continue recording in MP4 file format, then you will need to upgrade to Windows 10 which does not have this limitation.
- Otherwise, choose any other file type to record to in vMix instead. Such as MPEG-2 or AVI which do not have a file size limitation.
